KEEP YOUR OLDER MAC
RUNNING FOR YEARS LONGER
Don't throw away a perfectly good Mac just because Apple says it's "too old"
Sound familiar?
You've got a 2015 MacBook Pro that's been running perfectly — until suddenly your bank says it's no longer supported, or Microsoft 365 refuses to update, or your local library's catalogue won't load! Apple declared your Mac "vintage" and stopped shipping macOS updates for it. You're stuck on macOS Monterey (12) while the world has moved on. A new Mac costs $2,000+. That's a lot of money for a machine that was working fine last week.

One of the biggest frustrations we see is people being told they need to replace an otherwise perfectly good Mac simply because it can no longer install the latest version of macOS.
In many cases, that's simply not true.
If your Mac is mainly used for email, internet browsing, online banking, Microsoft Office, study or general home use, there's often no reason to spend thousands of dollars on a new computer.
The Solution
With the help of OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP), many older Intel-based Macs can safely run much newer versions of macOS, giving them a whole new lease on life.
It allows compatible Macs to run newer versions of macOS that Apple no longer officially supports. That means you can often continue using the latest Microsoft 365 apps, modern web browsers and other everyday software, without replacing a computer that's still working perfectly well.
For many people, it's one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to get several more years out of their Mac.
Is my Mac compatible?
Many Intel Macs from around 2008–2017 can be upgraded well beyond Apple's official limit.
Compatibility depends on your exact model and hardware.
If you're unsure, simply send us your Mac's model number or serial number and we'll let you know what's possible.
Note: Macs with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4 chips) don't need patching — they're already fully supported by Apple. OCLP is for Intel Macs only.
✓ Microsoft 365 compatibility. The latest versions of Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams all require macOS 13 or higher. Patching fixes this overnight.
✓ Keeps working hardware working. The greenest computer is the one you already have. No e-waste, no financing, no transfer headaches.
✓ 100% free software. OCLP is open source and community-maintained. The only cost is your time — or $150 if you'd rather we handle it.
✓ Security patches restored. Running an outdated OS is a real risk — especially for banking. OCLP gets you back onto Apple's current security baseline.

Is it safe?
OpenCore Legacy Patcher has become a well-established project used by hundreds of thousands of Mac owners worldwide.
It isn't a hack designed to bypass security.
Instead, it allows compatible older Macs to install newer versions of macOS that Apple has chosen not to officially support.
Like any major operating system upgrade, there are some risks and not every Mac is suitable, which is why we always recommend making a complete backup first.
We also check compatibility before proceeding.
Can I do it myself?
Absolutely.
OpenCore Legacy Patcher is completely free software, and the developers provide excellent documentation for those who are comfortable following technical instructions.
If you enjoy learning new things and don't mind spending a little time reading, you can absolutely have a go yourself.
Is it worth doing?
For many customers, yes.
If your Mac is still fast enough for what you do, upgrading the operating system can often delay the need for a replacement by several years.
Instead of spending $1,500–$3,000 on a new laptop, you may find your existing Mac continues to do everything you need.
It's one of the best value upgrades available.
